Ambient noise investigation of rock structures in Bohemian Paradise
Müller, Jozef
We carry out non-invasive ambient noise investigation of rock structures in Bohemian Paradise (Bohemian Cretaceous Basin, Czech Republic). The study is focused on two key topics: 1) An in-situ elastic moduli estimate of competent, horizontally deposited sandstone layers. This is done by performing an ambient noise array measurement. The recording is processed with f-k array analysis, from which frequency-dependent Love and Rayleigh wave dispersion curves as well as the Rayleigh wave ellipticity are retrieved. The data are inverted for P- and S-wave velocity profiles, from which the Young's and shear modulus are successfully estimated. 2) Study of local response of Kapelník rock tower. We analyse a dataset of ambient noise recordings from the top of the tower and from its foot. Information about tower oscillation frequencies and directions, together with amplification ratios, are retrieved from particle motion polarisation analysis and from site-to-reference spectral ratios. The Euler-Bernoulli beam theory is finally used to interpret the measured data using the elastic moduli estimated from the noise array measurement. Keywords: Bohemian Paradise, rock tower, seismic ambient noise, seismic surface waves
Geomorphological analysis and relief development of central part of Troskovická Highland
David, Daniel ; Balatka, Břetislav (advisor) ; Přibyl, Václav (referee)
David, D. (2010): Geomorphological analysis and development relief of central part in Troskovická vrchovina (Highland) (Bohemian Paradise). Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Sience, Department of Physical Geography and Geoecology. The central part of Troskovická vrchovina Highland lies between towns Turnov and Jičín in Jičínská pahorkatina (Hilly land) in Geopark Bohemian Paradise. It is a rugged rocky area mostly built of sedimetary rocks (Cretaceous quartz sandstones). The relief is cut by canyons and in the center of plateau is vulcanic neck Trosky. This book contains results of detailed geomorphological mapping and analysing of the area. The major product of this study is detailed geomorphological map 1:10 000. Key words: Bohemian Paradise, detailed geomorphological mapping, geomorphological analysis, Střeleč pit (main), sandstone relief, vulcanic rocks and Trosky neck.
Possibilities and limits of co-operation of rural municipalities. Case study of municipalities in the region of the Bohemian Paradise
Fučíková, Eva ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Herová, Irena (referee)
The presented thesis focuses on the phenomenon of the cooperation of rural municipalities. The cooperative mechanism is one of possible ways for small municipalities to solve problems resulting from their limited financial, material and human resources. The cooperation with neighbouring municipalities or other actors of spatial development allows them to realize projects and activities, that they otherwise could not realize themselves because of the costs or spatial extent of the project or activity beyond their territory. The main objective of the thesis is to classify several types of the cooperation in rural region and to apply these classifications to the model region. First the fundamental theoretical background and external and internal factors affecting the cooperation of municipalities are discussed. Further several classifications of the cooperation were compiled based on theoretical findings and recent research results. As research method, applied in model region, guided interviews with representatives of the selected rural municipalities were chosen. The first two initial hypotheses of the thesis were confirmed within the selected rural municipalities in the region of the Bohemian Paradise: The formality of the cooperation is growing, respectively its intensity is decreasing according to growing...
Educational use of geological park Czech Paradise in teaching upper primary school biology
Zrůstová, Klára ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
The presented diploma thesis has an educational character and tries to find a way how to teach geology more attractive at primary schools. It includes authorial proposals for field trip routes and school experiments that can be implemented in lessons or within other educational school activity during school year. The field trips are built to be carried out in the geological park of Bohemian Paradise because of its natural wealth giving many possibilities to be used in teaching geology and other related fields of natural sciences. The experiments are designed to be realized during school lessons, therefore they are meant to be as little as possible time consuming and also the necessary material is supposed to be easily available. A theoretical part of the diploma thesis contains a summary of available natural datasets about the geological park of Bohemian Paradise, a review of the educational principles for organising of the field trips, creating worksheets, experiments and games in teaching process. The principles of creating concept maps are also included. An integral part of the thesis is authorial research with students and teachers via questionnaire survey proving that experiments and field trips are an indispensable component of teaching process and appropriate motivational tools at primary...

The regionalization of Bohemian Paradise based on the analysis of symbols used for its promotion
Jenček, Lubor ; Šifta, Miroslav (advisor) ; Semian, Michal (referee)
The regionalization of Bohemian Paradise based on the analysis of symbols used for its promotion This bachelor thesis is devoted to the issue of regional identity. The area of interest of this thesis is the Bohemian Paradise region. The purpose of this thesis is to set a spatial and symbolic shape of Bohemian Paradise as based on promotional materials from information centres. First objective is to spatially define Bohemian Paradise - define its borders. Second objective is to discover, if a given promotion makes this region a homogeneous or a heterogeneous unit. Last objective is to identify symbols of Bohemian Paradise. As regards the structure of the thesis, the aim of the first introductory part is to introduce concepts and terms which are used in the second part of this thesis. The third part of thesis contains confrontation of results from this thesis with results of Michal Semian's thesis from 2010. This thesis is based on descriptive statistics as well as qualitative methods. Keywords: region, symbol, new regional geography, institutionalization of the region, symbolical shape of the region, promotional materials, Bohemian Paradise
Revision and evaluation of sites with current and historical occurrence of selected species \kur{Orchidaceae} in Bohemian Paradise (Czech: Český ráj)
ALBRECHTOVÁ, Linda
The subject of this diploma thesis was the research of vegetation at localities in the Protected Landscape Area Bohemian Paradise. There were choosen areas: Natural Monument Podloučky and Protected Area Fialník, where grows an orchid Gymnadenia conopsea subsp. montana. There were made 60 phytocenological samples, and described: biotop, altitude, slope, huminidy and exposure. There were found four orchid species in the localities. Phytocenological samples were compared with each other. It has been shown that differences between localities are greater than the differences between orchid and non-orchid samples. Significant differences were also found in comparing the coverage in the floor between locations and abundace of species in each floor.
Potential of tourism of the microregion Kozákov
Štyrandová, Markéta ; Valentová, Jana (advisor) ; Abrhám, Josef (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyse the potential of the tourism industry of the microregion Kozákov. The thesis consists of four main chapters. The first one delimits the elementary terms from the field of tourism, which are connected with the theme. The second chapter minutely characterizes the microregion, its territory and important personalities. The third chapter builds on an analysis of the primary and secondary tourism supply. It also concerns itself with the issue of the tourism subjects in the microregion and promotion. The last chapter evaluates the potential of the microregion for the development of the tourism and contains advice for the efficient utilization of the destination.
